Education Foundation’s Dec. 9 auction to support music in schools

The Edmonds Public Education Foundation has launched “Celebrating Edmonds Music,” an initiative to support music education in the Edmonds School District, including a plan to put musical instruments into the hands of children attending Edmonds’ public schools. The first event is a Celebrating Edmonds Music Appetizer Auction Wednesday, Dec. 9, from 5:30 -9 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in Lynnwood.

The event features a silent auction plus champagne and appetizers from the Embassy Suites. More than 200 guests, including school leaders and arts patrons, are expected to attend.

Funds raised from the event will be used to purchase musical instruments in good playing conditions and provide them to children who need them, along with instruction, supplies and support such as instrument maintenance.

Anyone wishing to donate an auction item can contact Cindy Sackett at 206-406-6760 or cindy.sackett2@verizon.net. Tickets or general information can be obtained through Dick Lee at 206-252-0476 or richardjlee@comcast.net.

The Public Education Foundation, which earlier this fall put on a successful 5K Street Strut fundraiser, is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation.
