The Snohomish County Young Democrats has spent three weeks collecting a metric ton of food and $2,500 for Food Lifeline. This Saturday, from 6-10 p.m., the group will hold a final fundraiser and celebration at the home of Edmonds community leaders Priya and Todd Cloutier, and everyone is invited to attend. The money raised so far will provide 10,000 meals for hungry Western Washington families.
“People have been struggling to get by in this difficult economic climate, and people can’t expect a lot from the government due to the extreme scarcity of public resources,” said SCYD President Max Brown. ” Snohomish County Young Democrats are trying to encourage people to help their neighbors on a voluntary basis. Volunteerism and leading by example are the best ways to get things done now.”
Anyone is welcome to attend the fundraiser at the Cloutier residence, 9307 216th St. S.W., Edmonds. Attendees are asked to bring $5 cash or 3 non-perishable food items for Food Lifeline.
