Wilson Strategic honored for ‘Not That Joe Wilson’ campaign

Wilson Strategic Communications, the Edmonds public affairs firm run by Edmonds City Councilmember D.J. Wilson, was presented Friday night with a Politics magazine Reed Award for work related to the campaign of Joe Wilson, who ran successfully for the position of Snohomish County Superior Court judge last fall.

“Not That Joe Wilson,” earned an award for “Best Earned Media Around a Single Event,” based on the media coverage the campaign received when Joe Wilson sought to clarify that he was not the same Joe Wilson who yelled “You Lie” on the Senate floor during a speech by President Barack Obama.

D.J. Wilson, who is no relation to Joe Wilson, was in Washington, D.C., to accept the award, and also gave a speech during the dinner.
Politics publisher Jordan Lieberman noted on the magazine’s website that “becoming a Reed Award finalist is tough. Actually winning a Reed Award is only accomplished by the most impressive creative political and public affairs talent in the world.”
The award competition, named after Politics magazine’s founder Stanley Foster Reed, “embodies his mission to strive for excellence in political campaigning,” the website said.
