Edmonds-Woodway and Kamiak battled to a 1-1 tie in boys Wesco South soccer action last Friday night. Kamiak was dominant in the first 40 minutes with a decided advantage on ball possession, but a solid showing in goal by Edmonds-Woodway GK Eric Whitney kept the visitors off the scoreboard and the first half ended in a 0-0 tie.

The closest Kamiak came to scoring was at 30-minute mark, when Tyler Hawkinson appeared to break through the E-W defense and fire on target from 20 yards away as Whitney came off the box, but the goal was called back on offside call by the center referee.

Kamiak scored the game’s first goal in the second half at the 74-minute mark with a low-liner just outside the goal box by Kyle Watts. Sensing the pressure, E-W cranked up its effort with numerous shots on goal and eventually broke through with an equalizer at the 86-minute mark as the Warriors’ Ben Wilmot (#10) fired off a left-footed shot low to the right and passed Kamiak GK Caleb Smith.

Whitney (first half) and Conor Scalet (second half) were in goal for E-W.
