Despite the Knights’ tremendous advantage on number of shots over the Mavericks Friday night on the Kamiak’s home field, Meadowdale kept it close all the way down the wire. Many of Kamiak’s shots were just off the mark, either hitting the crossbars or posts. One finally found its way into the net as Bryton Reim slid a low-liner inside the penalty area and put Kamiak on the board at the 26-minute mark. But Meadowdale’s Sam Werner, Spencer Walior and Neech Zebari continued to apply pressure on the Knights.
In the second half, Meadowdale orchestrated some promising attacks. An outstanding save by Kamiak GK Caleb Smith and a heads-up play by Shaun Wagner as he was horizontal on the ground thwarted a Maverick effort to tie the game at the 63-minute mark. Instead, the Knights gained more ball possession as time wound down and came away with a 1-0 victory. eventual 1-0 final score resulted.
Smith earned a shutout win for Kamiak (2-0-2) while Kenneth Hill was in goal for Meadowdale (1-3-0.)
