No Fooling: Registration opens April 1 for Great Edmonds Adventure

Registration is now open for the Great Edmonds Adventure, an “Amazing Race”-style competition that will take place Aug. 21.

A benefit event for the Sno-King Youth Club, the Great Edmonds Adventure will involves teams of two working to solve clues in downtown Edmonds. “Each team will be responsible for solving clues to get to each task,” the event registration page notes, and “Each task must be completed and officially checked off to get the next clue.” There will be approximately 15 tasks to complete.

Cost to register is $40 per person or $80 per team. Each team must have one member 18 years old or older, and the second member can be as young as 10. There is also a Family Team category for $100, which allows four members (one member of the family team must be at least 18).

A quick read-through of the team rules gives participants an idea of what they are in for on Aug. 21. For example:

– Teams may only travel by foot or public transportation (including buses, trains and ferries).

– You are welcome to use “high-tech” items such as cell phones, laptops and GPS.

– You may ask anyone along the way for help and can also feel free to phone a friend.

– All teams are encouraged to wear a uniform and get creative – matching t-shirts, wigs, sunglasses, full costumes encouraged.

After registration, participants will start receiving periodic emails about the race day, including sample clues and helpful hints. In addition, competitors are encouraged to “start practicing your brain teasers, anagrams, word searches, cryptograms and crosswords.
