Five members of the Edmonds-Woodway High School girls tennis team will be headed to the state high school tennis tournament next week.
E-W’s Amanda Waldron and Michelle Nelson defeated teammates Sophie Roben and Sarah Fine, 6-3, 6-1, to win the Northwest 4A District girls doubles championship Thursday. As a result, both Edmonds-Woodway doubles teams will make the trip to the state championships that start May 27 in Kennewick.
In addition, Jane Hong of Edmonds-Woodway qualified for a state berth at singles, beating Sarah Tuemmler of Marysville-Pilchuck, 6-3, 7-6.
