The Edmonds Mural Society is unveiling five murals planned for mounting in Edmonds this summer during its Unveiling Gala on Saturday May 22, 6:30 p.m., at the Edmonds Senior Center. The evening’s festivities include an auction, live music, performances and local cuisine.
The Mural Society’s Tricia Thompson describes the event as “a dazzling evening” that features visual, musical, performance and culinary arts.
The Edmonds Mural Society (EMS) raised its first mural, “A Day In Edmonds” by Pat Brier, in September 2009 on the building housing Sound Styles just off the traffic circle at 5th and Main. “There is a great sense of satisfaction at being the first, having put up the first mural, in paving the way for other artists to come down the road,” she said. This summer, Brier plans to add a second, complementing work, “A Night In Edmonds.”
Founded by Edmonds arts advocates Manya Vee and Jeff Stilwell, the Edmonds Mural Society now has more than 100 members and relies on donations and member dues. Tickets to the May 22 event are available for $25 at Manya Vee Selects, Designer Consignor or online at www.EdmondsMuralSociety.org.
