Child car seat checks at Edmonds Fire Station today

Child passenger safety technicians will be offering free child car seat checks during an open house at Edmonds Fire Station 17, 275 Sixth Ave. N., from 9 a.m. to noon today, Saturday.

Most child car seats are improperly installed, putting children and babies at risk. Snohomish County Fire District 1’s certified child passenger safety technicians will be providing free car seat checks on a first-come, first-served basis during the open house. Each car seat check test at least 30 minutes. Parents should bring car seat instructions and vehicle owner’s manual. If technicians are unable to accommodate all car seat check requests during open house hours, parents will be offered an appointment to come back for a check on another day.

In addition to the car seat clinic, the fire station open house will feature tours of the fire engine, demonstrations of firefighting gear, the Wheel of Safety game, children’s safety activities and refreshments.

Fire District 1 is the largest provider of fire and emergency medical services in Snohomish County, with full-time staffing at 12 fire stations.
