Hummingbird banding workshop Sunday at Willow Creek Hatchery

Will you chip in to support our nonprofit newsroom with a donation today? Yes, I want to support My Edmonds News!

How to catch a hummingbird? Most of us wouldn’t know where to start. Local hummingbird expert Dan Harville has been banding hummingbirds across the state for more than 10 years to help track populations. Here’s an opportunity to watch Harville in action when he demonstrates his technique at 8:30 a.m. this Sunday at the Wildlife Habitat and Native Plant Demonstration Garden at Edmonds’ Willow Creek Hatchery.

Registration isn’t necessary. Just show up at the garden, at 95 Pine St., at the corner of Highway 104 and Pine south of the ferry toll booth. For more information, contact Susie Schaefer at Susie.Schaefer@pilchuckaudubon.org or call 425-771-8165. It

And a reminder: Be careful where you are walking and don’t step on the new native plants. Children are welcome but must be supervised.
