While Sunday, July 4 is the official holiday, many people also have Monday, July 5, as a day off from work. For those who don’t, and rely on bus transportation to get to work, note that Community Transit will not be operating on either Sunday or Monday. The transit agency, which provides local bus service for Edmonds as well as commuter service into downtown Seattle, canceled both its Sunday and holiday service as of June 13 as a cost-saving measure, and this is the first weekend where a Sunday and observed holiday fall right next to each other.
The Edmonds liquor store is closed Sunday but will be open regular hours on Monday. The Edmonds Post Office, Edmonds Library, banks and City of Edmonds offices will also be closed on Monday, as will Snohomish County offices in Everett.
