The Family Center, an outreach of Lutheran Community Services Northwest, is sponsoring a school supply drive for Edmonds School District families who won’t be able to afford school supplies in the fall.
Watch for great sales and weekly bargains at local stores to purchase new supplies. (See below for a list of suggestions.) You can drop them off at several South Snohomish County locations, including two in Edmonds: the Edmonds Windermere office at 5th and Dayton and Lynnwood Honda on Highway 99 and 220th Street Southwest.
The deadline for donations is Aug. 6, and supplies will be distributed during the Back To School Resource Fair from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18 at Cedar Valley Community School in Lynnwood. The fair is open to all Edmonds School District families. Pre-registration is required to receive free school supplies.

All donations are tax-deductible. You can also support the event with a monetary donation: $10 pays for a haircut, $25 buys supplies for a K-2nd grader and $50-$75 buys supplies for a 3rd-12th grader. If you are donating money, make your check payable to the Family Center with the notation “Back to School Consortium.” School supplies and monetary donations can be mailed or dropped off at the Family Center, 6330 195th St. S.W., Lynnwood, WA 98036.
Or you can be an event sponsor: Gold $500, Silver $250 and Bronze $100. Sponsors will be acknowledged in all publications. Funds will be used entirely to purchase supplies and haircuts for kids. Anyone with questions should contact Carmen at the Family Center at 425-670-8984, Ext. 22.
