Edmonds police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who attempted to grab the wallet of a man who had just finished withdrawing cash from the Westgate Wells Fargo ATM on Edmonds Way Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday, August 1. A 69-year old man told officers he just finished with the ATM and turned to walk back to his car when the suspect — a white male in his early 20s — tried to take his wallet. No weapon was seen, the victim was able to retain his wallet and the suspect fled. He was last seen running south on 97th Avenue West.

Bank surveillance cameras recorded the entire incident. The suspect is described as about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds with short brown hair. He was wearing dark sunglasses, a white T-shirt, beige-colored shorts with large cargo pockets, and dark shoes with white laces.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Edmonds Police Department at 425-771-0200 or the tip line, 425-771-0212, 24 hours a day.
