Weather permitting, Edmonds muralist Pat Brier’s latest work, “An Evening in Edmonds,” is scheduled to be installed this Saturday next to her original work, “A Day in Edmonds,” located on the south side of the Sound Styles clothing boutique in downtown Edmonds.
Rather than being painted on the wall — the technique used for the three previous murals raised by the Edmonds Mural Society this summer — this mural will be installed using a process developed by 3M known as “wall-wrap.”
“Essentially, the image gets transferred to strips of vinyl 9 feet tall,” said Mural Society spokesman Jeff Stilwell. “Then it’s melted onto the wall by a 3M certified installer. It’s quite a fascinating process.”
“An Evening In Edmonds” is the fourth of five murals being installed this summer. The Mural Society, which is currently seeking 501c(3) status, is entirely volunteer-run and relies exclusively on the donations and the support of its dues-paying members.
