Lynnwood’s Wright picked over Edmonds’ Wilson for County Council

The Snohomish County Council voted unanimously Tuesday to appoint Lynnwood City Council Vice President Stephanie Wright as its newest member. Wright will fill the District 3 seat vacated by Mike Cooper, who left in July to become the new mayor of Edmonds.

Edmonds City Councilmember D.J. Wilson and Lynnwood Planning Commission Member Maria Ambalada were also in the running for the position. Last month, Democratic precinct committee officers from County Council District 3 chose Wright as their top pick, with 33 votes. Wilson came in second with 11 votes. Ambalada received one vote. Those recommendations were forwarded to the County Council as an advisory.

  1. Excellent choice by our County Council, Although it would be super to continue to have a direct representative from Edmonds on the County Council it would not have been right, and certainly not the fair play or American way of doing business. The murky and in my opinion sleazy actions by D. J, Wilson and/or a few of his supporters eliminate him from any serious consideration in my mind. I believe DJ has now been involved in enough tricky dicky stuff that a request for his resignation from the Edmonds city council is reasonable.
