New Classics Theatre is casting for Edmonds playwright Jeff Stilwell’s new dramatic comedy “A Dropped Stitch.” Auditions will be Sunday and Monday, Aug. 15-16, 7 – 9 p.m. or by appointment at Manya Vee Selects Gallery, 409 Main St., in downtown Edmonds. Callbacks will be Tuesday, Aug. 17, 7 p.m.
Here’s the plot: Bobbie is going crazy! After a dreary day of cutting out patterns for Mother’s new quilt, and dodging her hints to wear pink, Bertram is coming to visit! Which means a looong evening of pouring him whiskeys, holding his hat and listening to his homilies on the virtues of brushing one’s teeth! If that weren’t enough, her kooky metrosexual neighbor is all too willing to treat her to his dabblings in the Grand Unified Theory of matter, embracing androgyny, and the merits of marinated
asparagus. Join this whimsical romp that celebrates the adventure of finding one’s art – and love – in all too unexpected ways!
New Classics Theatre is casting the following roles:
MOTHER – Gentle tyrant, who staves off chaos with her passion for order, age in 60s.
BERTRAM – Insufferable prig, full of himself, yet infuriatingly accomplished, 40 – 60.
METRO – Free-thinking, free-wheeling, idealist who all too freely offers his ideas, 30 – 50.
Please bring a prepared monologue, headshot, resume and be prepared to read sides of the script, which can be found here:
