High school football season is upon us, with both Edmonds-Woodway and Meadowdale High School kicking off their respective seasons this Friday night. (All fall sports schedules for both schools’ varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams are posted here.) But players from both teams — along with those from Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace — will be engaged in a different sort of competition this Sunday, Sept. 5: a hamburger-eating contest sponsored by the Red Onion in Mountlake Terrace.
And this isn’t just any burger competition, by the way. It’s the Intimidator Challenge, an Edmonds School District Wide Eat Off where three members of each football team see who can be the first to scarf down a 3 1/2-pound beef burger, a half pound of buns and fixings, half a pound of chili, a half a pound of macaroni and cheese and a half a pound of French fries. The Red Onion’s Wall of Fame” features patrons who have finished the Intimidator in under 30 minutes. The current record is just under 14 minutes.
The challenge will take place at 6 p.m. but come in anytime from 4-8 p.m. and half of your bill, including tips, will be equally distributed among the four football programs. In additional, the Red Onion and other sponsors will donate an extra $500 to the team of the football player who finishes the Intimidator first.
That sounds like a great meal. Can mom’s join in the contest too?
What does the 2nd & 3rd get? Alka Selzer
Sounds fun 😛
