Tonight: Meeting on Edmonds’ Complete Streets initiative

Come to the Point Edwards Charter Club at 7 p.m.  tonight for a community discussion about pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly streets in Edmonds.

The agenda includes informal presentations by Edmonds City Council members, citizens who worked on the latest update to the city’s Transportation Plan, the Edmonds Bike Club and the Sierra Club. Patrick Green will present the Cascade Land Conservancy’s Complete Streets initiative, which is designed to serve the needs of all users including “pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users, regardless of age or ability.” A question-and answer period will follow.

The Charter Club is located at 85 Pine Street in Edmonds. Limited parking is available in the Charter Club parking lot. If the lot is full, please park along Pine Street.

If you have any questions, contact Laura Spehar at edmondsbwh@gmail.com or Barbara Tipton at barbaratipton@gmail.com.

  1. I assume that there will be a discussion of a user fee for bicycles and sneakers from the Transportation Benefit District.

  2. The 238th street sidewalk is an important sidewalk project that enhances the safety of South Edmonds. In addition, the Prop 1 accelerates the rate at which we resurface roads, which will help with the alignment problem described above.

Prop 1 may not fix every problem, but it fixes more problems than saying NO will. That”s why I am voting for it.
