Rebecca Herivel and Stephen Weikel, both students at Edmonds-Woodway High School, recently graduated from the 2010 Washington Aerospace Scholars Summer Residency hosted by The Museum of Flight in Seattle.
The two were among 160 students who qualified for the program from the 247 students who applied last November. They collaborated with other student participants on the design of a human mission to Mars. WAS scholars are guided by professional engineers, scientists, university students, and certified teachers as they plan these missions. The WAS program is designed to inspire students to pursue degrees and careers in science, technology, engineering and math.
Wish they had programs like these when I was a kid.
