Firefighters in Snohomish County Fire District 1 will observe a moment of silence Saturday morning to remember those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001 and those still fighting the war on terrorism. Remembrance ceremonies are planned at all 12 fire stations staffed by Fire District 1 in south Snohomish County, including those in Edmonds:
– Edmonds Fire Station 16, 8429 196th St. S.W.
– Edmonds Fire Station 17, 275 Sixth Ave. N.
– Edmonds Fire Station 20, 23009, 88th Ave. W.
On-duty firefighters will gather at their fire station flag pole at 6:55 a.m. and will observe a minute of silence at 6:58 a.m. Dispatchers will broadcast a memorial tone and announcement at 6:59 a.m., the time of the collapse of the World Trade Center’s south tower, to conclude the brief ceremony.
