My Edmonds News is co-sponsoring a Civic Engagement Forum for state Legislative candidates next week, and you’re invited to attend. The forum, which will be held at the Black Box Theater at Edmonds Community College Sept. 22, features 21st District candidates Marko Liias, the Democratic incumbent, and his challenger, Republican Elizabeth Scott, and 1st District candidates Dennis Richter (R) and Derek Stanford (D) , who are running for a vacant seat.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the forum starts at 7 p. m. in the theater, located at 20310 68th Ave. W. in Lynnwood. The event will be moderated by D.J. Wilson, Edmonds City Councilmember, and is also co-sponsored by Edmonds Community College.
Seating is limited to 200, so arrive early to ensure a seat. Audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions. In addition, representatives from all three sponsoring online news organizations — My Edmonds News, MLTnews and Lynnwood Today— will sit on a panel that will be asking questions of the candidates. My Edmonds News readers who can’t attend the forum in person are invited to submit questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
This is the first in a series of Civic Engagement Forums that will be held in upcoming weeks. On Oct. 7, Bill Gates Sr. and Marilyn Watkins lead a panel of proponents and opponents of I-1098, the high earners income tax initiative on the ballot this November. That forum also starts at 7 p.m. in the Black Box Theater.
