Edmonds football: Warriors win again in OT, Mavericks roll over Shorewood

Edmonds-Woodway High School’s football team notched its second overtime victory in as many weeks, downing Kamiak 34-38 on the Knights’ home field Friday night. (For Warrior fans who missed it, earlier in the week we posted video highlights of last week’s overtime contest from My Edmonds News contributor Cornelius Erzos.)

The teams were tied at the end of every quarter and were knotted at 28 at the end of regulation. The Warriors’ winning touchdown came on fullback David Pikelny’s 7-yard run in the OT period.

Running back Zack Berg rushed for 295 yards on 26 carries and scored three touchdowns. E-W quarterback Tyler Brudevold also connected on a 34-yard pass to Berg for another TD.

The Warriors’ record now stands at 2-1 league and 5-1 overall.

Meanwhile, at Edmonds Stadium, Meadowdale defeated Shorewood 28-3, holding the Thunderbirds to a total of 99 yards during the contest.

Quarterback Nathan Ball threw for a touchdown and also ran one in to lead the Mavericks. On the night, he completed five of eight passes for 71 yards. Meadowdale running back Kyle Gage and Michael Dever also scored TDs; Gage had 13 carries for 133 yards while Dever had 15 carries for 124 yards.
