Saturday in Edmonds: Street Strut and Costume Swap

The second annual Edmonds Public Schools Foundation’s Street Strut is Saturday, and  you can still register with check/cash at Running in Motion or by credit card at www.edmondspsf.org. Cost is $35 for adults; ages 9 and under are free.

The event starts at 9 a.m. at Edmonds Civic Track and Field,  6th Avenue North and Bell Street. Early packet pick-up is Friday from 3-7 p.m. at Running in Motion at 401 Main St. Day of Race packet pick-up starts at 7:45 a.m. Ages 9 and under are free. Register

Launched last year in honor of Lynnwood High School cross country coach Vic Bennet, the Street Strut is a 5 K (three-mile) run/walk on a route that covers some of Edmonds’ most scenic city streets. Participants include hard-core runners, families pushing strollers and even some four-legged friends.

The Edmonds public school with the highest turnout receives the coveted traveling trophy — a golden running shoe — and a cash prize for their school’s physical education department. Prizes are also awarded for the four schools with the most participation.

After the Street Strut, stop by Coldwell Banker Bain at 108 5th Ave. S. and participate in Edmonds’ first ever Halloween Costume Swap, sponsored by Green Halloween Edmonds, from 11 a.m-2 p.m.

Costumes in good condition can be dropped off at Coldwell Banker Bain now through the day of the swap. Those donating costumes will receive a token if they want to return to pick up a new costume the day of the event. Any leftover costumes will be donated to charity.
