Fire causes $50,000 in damage to Edmonds garage Sunday

A fire in the large detached garage of an Edmonds home caused more than $50,000 in damage Sunday morning. Investigators from Snohomish County Fire District 1 and the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s office are still working to determine the cause of the blaze in the 1,200-square-foot, three-car garage in the 22700 block of 82nd Avenue West.

“A neighbor saw the fire and alerted the homeowner,” said Leslie Hynes, Fire District 1 public information officer. The fire was reported around 8:30 a.m., she said.

Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control. No one was inside the garage when the fire broke out around and there were no injuries. There were no cars inside the garage, but several power tools were destroyed.
