Congratulations to Edmonds “arts power couple” Jeff Stilwell and Manya Vee, who are celebrating their 10th anniversary as owners of the Manya Vee Selects gallery in downtown Edmonds.
Their gallery, located at 409 Main St, boasts the works of over 100 artists from across the U.S, with the motto “Art You Can Use.” Starting next Tuesday, Nov. 9-Saturday, Nov. 13, the couple is hosting an anniversary celebration in the gallery, using the number 10 as a theme.
Ten gallery artists have donated 10 pieces of functional art to be given away in a drawing during the culminating event on Saturday, Nov. 13, from 4 – 7 p.m. Edmonds chocolatier Immaculate Confections is providing samples, along with other treats, during the drawing.
The small gallery specializes in fine American craft that people can use and enjoy. “Using beautiful objects in your daily life, such as eating breakfast in a hand-painted glass bowl, changes your outlook on life, reminding you to engage with the beauty all around you,” Vee said.
Stilwell and Vee also founded and still direct the Edmonds Third Thursday Art Walk, now enjoying its ninth year and now considered one of the largest in the state. “Back when we started, there were only two other places in town to buy art,” Vee said. “Now you can buy paintings by local artists in 18 different stores right in the downtown.”
Last year, the couple also founded the Edmonds Mural Society, which has successfully raised six murals over the last two summers, all in the downtown area.
