With below-freezing temperatures expected Sunday night, the South Snohomish County Emergency Cold Weather Shelter will be open to receive guests from 8-10 p.m.
The Shelter Network includes the following Edmonds and Lynnwood churches: Edmonds Unitarian Universalist, Edmonds United Methodist, Good Shepherd Baptist, Jeremiah Center, St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church and Trinity Lutheran Church. All those needing shelter should gather at Lynnwood City Hall (19100 44th Ave. W.) no later than 7 p.m. for pick up. From there, individuals will be driven to local churches. All shelter residents will receive dinner and breakfast.
A decision to open the Emergency Cold Weather Shelter on subsequent days will be made after the noon weather forecast each day. The Cold Weather Shelter closes at 7 a.m. each morning.
Anyone who can help at the cold weather shelter as a volunteer or who is willing to donate blankets, hats, gloves and socks or food items should contact Mark or Sue Waldin at 425-338-7932 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Financial donations are accepted through Trinity Lutheran Church – mail to 6215 196th St. S.W., Lynnwood, WA 98036.
Thank you Kerry Ayers and Councilman DJ Wilson for making sure that we have shelters in Edmonds!
