Here’s your chance to welcome the New Year with the Polar Bear Plunge, which celebrates its fourth year this Saturday at Brackett’s Landing.
The festivities start at 11 a.m. at Daphnes, 415 1/2 Main St., where members of the Edmonds Uplift Society begin plunge preparations, highlighted by a 12:30 p.m. Rainier Beer Toast to original Uplift Society members.
At 12:45 pm., participants clad in embroidered robes march down Main Street to Brackett’s Landing. The plunge begins promptly at 1 p.m., followed by the after-party at Rory’s at 1:01 p.m.
About 30 people are officially registered through the Edmonds Uplift Society for the event, although anyone is welcome to join the group at Daphnes, march to the beach and swim, said Brian Taylor of Daphnes.
Thanks for the reminder! I hope it’s ok to bring my son (4) who is a lover of Edmond’s beaches and has said he’d love to do the polar bear swim! Obviously he won’t be able to bar hop so he and I will have to just meet at the beach!
All ages are welcome to the swim, Erin!
It should be lots of fun, my husband is a virgin plunger. I will be sitting on the sideline laughing and videotaping.
Kim saw your comment. How am I suppose to know which one is Desmond?
