Warriors fight off Australia’s Tigers for 56-54 basketball win

Leading 50-38 at the end of the 3rd quarter, Edmonds-Woodway’s girls basketball team appeared to be headed for a comfortable win over the visiting Melbourne Tigers in an exhibition match in Edmonds Monday night. But the visiting club team from Australia mounted a furious comeback in the fourth quarter, closing the gap to 56-54, with 55 seconds remaining.

Fortunately for the Warriors, the Tigers weren’t able to capitalize on a couple of E-W turnovers and Edmonds-Woodway came away with the victory. Hear Coach Duane Hodges’ interview after the game:

Angela Woods had 22 points (including four 3-pointers), to lead E-W, while Ashley Albertson added 13 points and seven rebounds, and Sydney Donaldson had eight rebounds, four blocks and three steals.

Edmonds-Woodway scoring: Madeline Kasper 9, Amia Nash 2, Alex Kenney 5, Falanika Tuuamalemalo 1, Seyi Olajoyeghe 0, Ashley Albertson 13, Sydney Donaldson 4, Angela Woods 22.
