Edmonds woman killed, four others injured in Hwy 2 crashes Saturday

An Edmonds woman was killed and four others also from Edmonds were hospitalized Saturday morning in two accidents within minutes of each other on an icy stretch of Highway 2 near Leavenworth, our online news partner The Seattle Times reported Saturday.

GayLynne Ullerich, 49, died after the SUV driven by her husband, Jeffrey Ullerich, left the road, slid into a snowbank and rolled over, striking a tree just after 8 a.m., the State Patrol said. Jeffrey Ullerich and the couple’s two teen-aged children were injured and transported to Cascade Medical Center.

The accident took place about 10 miles west of Leavenworth.

Minutes later and just a mile west, an 82-year-old Edmonds man suffered a broken neck after losing control of his pickup truck, which slid into a snowbank and flipped over, troopers said. The man was transported to Central Washington Hospital.
