What’s open and closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day?


Want to know what’s open and closed on Monday, a federal holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday? Here’s a list, compiled with assistance from our online news partner The Seattle Times.

Most banks and credit unions: Closed.

Most government offices: Closed, including Edmonds City Hall. Exceptions include health and safety workers, such as state troopers, prison guards and child-protection workers.

Post offices: Closed; no mail delivery.

Community Transit: Local and Swift buses will operate on a regular weekday schedule.

Sound Transit: All trains and buses will operate on a regular weekday schedule. Note that the Sounder Northline between Everett and Seattle — shut down last Thursday and Friday due to a mudslide — will resume normal service Monday, with a normal operating schedule.

State ferries: On regular weekday schedules.

Department of Licensing offices: Closed.
