365 Thing to Do in Edmonds: PCC’s rainwater collection system

If you’re traveling in the Westgate area,  it’s hard to miss the rainwater collection tank located on the west side of the Edmonds PCC Natural Markets store. Wayne Purser of 365 Things to Do in Edmonds talks with store director Matt Smith about that tank, and how the rainwater collection system works.

The flat roof on the 34,400-square-foot building is designed to collect rainwater, which is then stored in a 4,500-gallon tank adjacent to the store. Pressurized water from the tank is used to flush store toilets and irrigate landscaping around the building, saving 160,000 gallons of water annually.
