Chef to assist students in preparing meal for Edmonds Schools Foundation luncheon

Chef Greg Atkinson

Guest chef and cookbook author Greg Atkinson will assist culinary arts instructor Rhonda Hampton and the culinary arts students of Lynnwood High School in preparing the lunch that will be served for the Edmonds Public Schools Foundation’s spring event, “A Recipe For Success,” on Friday, March 18.

The event, to be held at Lynnwood High School, 18218 North Road, Bothell, is the Foundation’s primary fundraiser of the year and supports students, teachers and classrooms in the Edmonds School District. Keynote speaker Adam Cornell, Snohomish County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, will talk about his personal “Recipe For Success” that helped him overcome many obstacles.

The community is invited to purchase a table, be a table captain or purchase a single ticket for this event to support their community schools. Single tickets for the event are $40, or purchase a table for $400, and you can register online. If you order Greg Atkinson’s latest, signed cookbook, “Northwest Essentials,” when you register,  50 percent of the proceeds will go to the Foundation.

The Foundation works directly with the District to identify district-wide programs that are in need of funding, such as summer school scholarships; after-school enrichment academic programs; an English Language Learners program for students and parents; and classroom supplemental reading materials to reach all reading levels within a classroom. Applications for 2011-12 grants are now being accepted (deadline March 25 at 4:30 pm), and are available online.
