March is National MS Education and Awareness Month, and Edmonds-based MS Helping Hands (MSHH) is participating in this effort to raise the public’s awareness of Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
According to MSHH President Bill Brayer, the goals of this campaign are to promote public understanding of the disease and to help those with MS make educated decisions about their health care by educating them about services and resources available, both locally and nationally.
The first official campaign was held in March 2003, and was recognized through official proclamations issued by the Mayor of the city of Ft. Lauderdale (home to the national headquarters of the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation), and by Florida Governor Jeb Bush. Anyone affected by MS or who is interested in learning more is invited to participate in activities and to broaden their understanding of MS throughout the month.
