My Edmonds News reader Reid Larson suggested we post a link to an article in the Sunday edition of our online news partner, The Seattle Times, regarding the future of math education in Washington state. Here’s Larson’s post, with links, here:
Do you have kids in the Edmonds School District? Do you care about whether the district is spending your tax dollars wisely? Either way, there’s an issue regarding math education you should know about. Washington State Superintendent Randy Dorn will hand over control of the district math curriculum to the federal government unless the Washington State Legislature intervenes. The Edmonds School District will have to pay for this change. University of Washington Professor Cliff Mass explains the issue here. If you like car analogies, Professor Mass wrote another article a few weeks ago.
If math education or educational spending is important to you, please contact your state representatives from South Edmonds or North Edmonds.
