American Brewing Company recently opened its doors to the Edmonds community, and University of Washington journalism student Allison Barrett developed the following multimedia presentation through an internship project for My Edmonds News.
While American Brewing Company may be new, head brewmeister Skip Madsen has a long history of crafting beers in the Pacific Northwest. His regional brewing experience includes time spent at Pike Brewing Company and Big Time Brewery in Seattle as well as at Boundary Bay Brewing Company in Bellingham and Waterstreet Brewing and Ale House in Port Townsend.
American Brewing Company shares a building with Gallaghers’ Where-U-Brew, a site that offers professional equipment, ingredients and guidance to those who want to make their own home brew. The placement of these two businesses together has created a “beer zone” of sorts, a destination that beer-lovers from all over the region can look forward to visiting.

Very nice presentation!
Allison and My Edmond News,
You’ve taken this gentle, soft spoken man and given him a platform to shine. I am so touched by what you were able to show of Skip and his character. His thoughtful comments, quietly given, speak loudly of the type of man behind our beer.
This might have started out as a project you needed to create, but it is now a piece of our history and we are truly grateful.
Julie
American Brewing Company
Hello Allison,
I watched this and felt compelled to echo Julie’s comments. I want to extend and extra special thank you for doing this. Since I first met Skip and offered him a position of importance at the American Brewing Company, I have realized that he is not only one of the great brewers of our era, but he is also one of the nicest men I have had the pleasure to know. To hear those words in his soft spoken voice has moved me and this will become a significant piece of American Brewing history.
Truly a heart felt thank you for taking the time to do something so special to us.
