College Place Middle students named semifinalists in national writing contest

Three College Place Middls School students have been named finalists in the “Letters about Literature” writing contest sponsored by the Library of Congress.

The students wrote letters to authors whose books have had an impact on their lives, describing their connections to the authors’ work and how it has affected them.  Nationwide, nearly 70,000 students from the U.S. entered, and national judges chose the state finalists.  In Washington, there were 3,376 entrants and 173 state finalists.

Congratulations to the following finalists — all seventh-graders — from College Place Middle School: Larissa Cochran, Genesis Dorsey and Kendall LeCompte.
