Edmonds Military Wire: Area families experiencing ‘Operation Baby Boom’

By Michael Schindler

There was a saying in World War II that when sailors were asked by reporters what they would do when they first got home, they would reply, “Make love to my wife.” When asked what they’d do next, they’d respond, “Drop my duffle bag.”

It seems the results of multiple deployments and the joyful homecomings are literally taking shape in the 900 wives and girlfriends our region’s soldiers. This new “baby boom” was recently highlighted on KING5 news and is once again being explored on KING5′s New Day Northwest. Check it out – and beware of the water!

Michael Schindler, Navy veteran, and president of Edmonds-based Operation Military Family, is a guest writer for several national publications, author of the book “Operation Military Family” and “The Military Wire” blog. He is also a popular keynote and workshop speaker who reaches thousands of service members and their families every year through workshops and seminars that include  “How to Battle-Ready Your Relationship” or “What Your Mother-in-Law Didn’t Tell You.”  He received the 2010 Outstanding Patriotic Service Award from the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs.
