At the Special Olympics Winter Games earlier this month, Edmonds public schools were well represented and three teams with Edmonds students received medals in their levels. Coach Ken Imthurn’s team earned second place in the Level Two category, Coach Akeem Harris’ team took fourth place in the Level Three category, and Coach Sherry White’s team placed second in the Level Four categories. The levels are regulated by Special Olympics and range from Level One to Level Four.
The district had 24 athletes make it to State this year. In order to qualify, each team had to earn Gold (1st place) at the regional tournament. Congratulations to the following athletes:
Tyler Belonga, Jr. Brooks, Kevin Cano, Seth Cruz, Haley Fitzgerald, Braxton Gainous, Jessica Gillingham, Kyle Imthurn, Kendall Lancaster, Leland Lasala, Merritt Marthaller, Tom Matthews, Laura McFadden, Mike Phok, Dominick Monillas, Scott Nichols, Danny Primm, Donald Sommer, Sydney Stumpf, Alexandra Sumner, Alexandra Vannoy, Elizabeth VanScoy, Brianna Watson and Crystal Yetter.
