Edmonds-Woodway graduate earns Rotary International Peace Fellowship

Edmonds resident Lisa Dittmar was recently awarded a Rotary International Peace Fellowship to study peace and conflict resolution on an international level. The fellowship will fund a master’s degree programs at the Rotary Peace Center in the University of Bradford in West Yorkshire, England starting this fall.

A 2001 Edmonds-Woodway High School graduate, Dittmar has worked in development projects in Honduras, Costa Rica, and Uruguay. As a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar in 2005, Lisa worked with Rotary on educational projects for Uruguayan youth.

She has been a volunteer, in-country supervisor and member of the board of directors for Amigos de las Americas, a program helping young people get involved in sustainable community development throughout Latin America.

Dittmar plans to pursue a career in microfinance or entrepreneurship-assistance programs.
