Edmonds business owner Frank Yamamoto confirmed Thursday that he has filed for the Edmonds City Council. A six-year Edmonds resident who owns Running in Motion on Main Street, Yamamoto currently serves as chair of the 17-member Citizens Economic Development Commission and just completed a stint as president of the Downtown Edmonds Merchants Association.
Last summer, he was one of 17 people who applied for the open City Council seat vacated by the resignation of Dave Orvis, and one of eight who applied for appointment to become Edmonds mayor after Gary Haakenson resigned to take the job of deputy county executive.
An avid cyclist and runner, Yamamoto has three grown children, and six grandchildren with one more on the way.
Yamamoto said he will be announcing a campaign kick-off event in the near future.
And, let the games begin!
