Edmonds City Councilmember Diane Buckshnis has announced that she is running for election to the Council seat — Position 4 — she was appointed to fill last January following the death of Councilmember Peggy Pritchard Olson.
Buckshnis, a retired banker, lists among her top issues the following: fiscal responsibility, government transparency, retention of height restrictions on the Edmonds waterfront and preservation of wetlands and open spaces.
She joins three other candidates who have declared so far for council seats. Incumbent DJ Wilson has launched his re-election campaign for Position 5. Retired carpenter Paul Anderson is running for Position 6, currently held by incumbent Steve Bernheim. And Edmonds business owner Frank Yamamoto confirmed that he will also seek a council seat, but has not yet announced which position he is running for.
