Updating an earlier report that said all Edmonds-area players had lost – there were errors in original WIAA bracket that were corrected.
One singles player and one doubles team survived the first day of play for the State 3A and 4A tennis tournaments Friday after one loss. Here are the latest results:
In boys 4A doubles, Edmonds-Woodway’s Youngha and Younghan Kim lost to Brandyn Gomez and Alex Lee of Thomas Jefferson 6-4, 6-1, then came back to beat Peter Killroy and Matt Cerf of Garfield, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1. They play Nick Mandelis and Lucas Tilly of Wenatchee for 6th and 8th place Saturday.
In girls 3A singles, Meadowdale’s Josie Dow lost to Meera Lim of Shorecrest, 6-0, 6-0.
In boys 3A singles, the Mavericks’ Alex Casper beat Aaron Farmer from West Valley, 6-1, 6-4. He now plays Shuhei Matsuya from Seattle Prep on Saturday for fifth or seventh place.
In boys 3A doubles, Meadowdale’s Scott Bohmke and Grant Lovell lost to Peter Koessler and Josiah Thomas, Wilson High School, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4
