Update: Groundbreaking is now scheduled for Thursday, May 19, still at 10:30 a.m. More details as they become available.
The Dick’s Drive-in Restaurant building permit for the Highway 99 location in Edmonds has been issued, according to Stephen Clifton, Director Community Services and Economic Development.
The restaurant chain “is currently attempting to arrange a ceremonial groundbreaking event, which is preliminarily scheduled for Wednesday, May 18,” Clifton said. “Thank you City staff for your timely reviews and for working effectively with Dick’s Drive-In during the permitting process,” Clifton added.
The restaurant is scheduled to open in late 2011 in the northeast corner of the TOP Food parking lot on Highway 99 near 220th Street Southwest.
We announced last week that Dick’s is conducting a Facebook campaign for one lucky citizen to participate in the groundbreaking: “One fab fan will join Dick Spady in using the ceremonial shovel at the groundbreaking ceremony. Here’s how — tell us in 50 words or less why you’re the one to help Dick break ground on the first new Dick’s Drive-In since 1974! Email your entries to contest@ddir.com Contest deadline is 8 p.m. Monday, May 16.”
Do you know yet what the scheduled time is for the groundbreaking? I posted this to my FB page and friends are asking ME for info. 🙂
I’m told the time will be 10:30 a.m. but the date of Wednesday is still tentative. It could be later in the week.
