Edmonds police promote officer Josh McClure to rank of corporal

Edmonds police officer Josh McClure will be promoted to the rank of corporal effective May 16, the Edmonds Police Department announced Thursday. McClure will be sworn in to his new rank at the Edmonds City Council meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 17 in the Council Chamber, Edmonds Public Safety Building, 250 5th Ave N.

McClure began his career with the Edmonds Police Department at age 17 as a Police Explorer Scout in 1993.  In 1997, he was hired as a reserve officer with the department. McClure worked as a full-time officer for the city of Tukwila for a short time before being hired as a full-time officer with the City of Edmonds in August 1999.

As an Edmonds PD officer,  he has served as a narcotics detective and a field training officer.  Since October 2006, McClure has been one of Edmonds’ two K9 Officers, working the nightshift with his partner Dash.  McClure was the Edmonds Police Department Officer of the Year in 2007 and the recipient of the City of Edmonds Distinguished Service Award and a Police Medal of Valor in 2008.
