Student Name: Nicole Betts
Mother’s Name: Nikki Gibson
GPA: 3.4
Clubs & Activities: For four years I have been involved in our school’s track team throwing javelin, and this year I won first place during districts. In addition to that, I am secretary of our school’s sect of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), a competitive club where I took 4th place in a state conference. I am also a member of LASC (Local Association of Student Council), this is basically a group established to promote sportsmanship and understanding between all of the schools within the school district.
Athletics: Throughout high school I tried many sports, however I finished off my senior year with track. This is probably one of my favorites simply because I throw javelin which is rather unexpected from me.
Honors: Over the past four years I enjoyed educationally challenging myself. For example, freshman year I began my journey from honors classes and by junior year making my way into the International Baccalaureate program. This year, however, I began taking classes at the college including philosophy just for the fun of it.
Awards: Recently at an FBLA regional competition, my teammate and I received first place, scoring 98% in our business ethics competition. We also went on to win 4th in the state competition held in Spokane. In regards to track, I received first place in our school district’s track meet.
Community Service: I currently work at KinderBritches and through this I am able to contribute to the community. Edmonds has many community enhancement activities like trick or treating during Halloween and also donating to various organizations. In my current position I am able to choose which organizations we help fund, and also put together and contribute to other occurring events like the Everything Edmonds Fashion Show, which raises money for the town.
Culminating Project: I actually finished this requirement at the community college. For this, we wrote a series of essays and then used these to create a speech that we presented to professors.
Current Employment: I have been an employee at KinderBritches in downtown Edmonds for a year and a half.
Future Educational Goals: For the next four years I am going to attend Western Washington University majoring in philosophy. I then plan to continue my education by attending law school for three more years.
Future Career Goals: My dream career would be to become either a corporate or family lawyer.
