Edmonds native Aaron Voros and his band Hotels are on the road to Las Vegas, where they will participate in Billboard’s Battle of the Bands concert May 18 and an opportunity — if they win — to play during the nationally televised Billboard Music Awards at the MGM Grand on May 22.
My Edmonds News wrote about Voros, Hotels’ drummer and a 2005 Edmonds-Woodway High School grad, and the band here. At the time, Hotels was one of three finalists vying through online voting on the Billboard website to represent the Northwest in a battle of promising unsigned bands. Hotels ended up winning that stage of the contest, and band members left Thursday for a road trip to Las Vegas, where they will battle it out against five other bands (each representing another U.S. region).
Each of the bands is now heading for Las Vegas and documenting their trip in video clips posted here at Billboard.com/battle. Hotels stopped in Portland Friday night and will play in San Francisco tonight before making their way to Las Vegas. You can help the band’s efforts to win the contest by visiting Hotels’ Billboard page and watching their adventures on the road. The number of views each group’s videos receive, along with the decision of the judges — which include Billboard staff and music industry professionals — will determine the winner.
You can also follow the band’s trip on Facebook.
