Manya Vee, arts business mentor and owner of Edmonds’ Manya Vee Selects, is offering a three-class series aimed at providing artists with the marketing basics they need.
“Our sluggish job market has seen many people turn to self-employment as an alternative, using their creative endeavors as a way to earn income,” Vee said. As a result, the co-founder of the Edmonds Art Walk has created three, two-hour classes aimed at tackling the marketing basics many artists need. Each two-hour class will be held Thursday evenings — June 23, June 30, and July 7 — in downtown Edmonds, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
June 23, Marketing 101 for Artists takes a look at the visual communication between the artist and the customer. Simplicity and consistency are the keys to success here, and they build confidence in the mind of the customer. This results in higher sales, as well as repeat customers.
June 30, Marketing 102 for Artists shows artists how to incorporate those visual cues learned in Marketing 101. The emphasis is on creating effective business cards, postcards, brochures, websites and more.
July 7, Marketing 103 for Artists addresses the issues of getting new customers and retaining old ones. There are many free and low-cost methods of communicating with customers, including emails, Facebook and blogs. Direct mail communication can also be effective, with postcards and other tools.
Each class is two hours long, and costs $25. Sign up for all three classes and save 10 percent. To register, call Manya Vee directly at 425-776-3778. Registration deadline is June 18 and class size is limited to 10. The classes will be held at Manya Vee Selects, 409 Main Street, in downtown Edmonds.
