Edmonds Port Commission report for June 27

During its meeting Monday, the Port Commission of the Port of Edmonds took the following actions:

– Received a special report on the fishing outlook for 2011 from John Hjort of Edmonds’ Willow Creek Hatchery. According to Hjort, the salmon season is expected to be very good this year, partially due to a much-larger-than-usual run of Pink (Humpback) Salmon. Local anglers will be able to fish for salmon from July of this year through April of next year with numerous restrictions on the breed and categories of fish changing throughout the period. The local crab season opens July 1.

– Authorized issuance of a one-year contract for on-call inspection, maintenance and repair of the Port’s public boat launcher.

Due to commissioners’ travel and vacation schedules, the next two regularly scheduled Port Commission meetings will be for approval of payables only; no other business will be conducted. The next regular business meeting of the Port Commission will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, in the Port Commission meeting room.
