Medics use boat to transport man from Picnic Point

Fire District 1 medics responded to a man in distress on the Picnic Point Park beach Tuesday afternoon and  used a boat to transport him to Edmonds, where he was taken by aid car to the hospital, Fire District 1 spokesperson Leslie Hynes said.

According to Hynes, Fire District 1 medics received an emergency call at 4:02 p.m. that a man in his 50s was having a medical emergency, and that he was a half mile down the beach, south of Picnic Point Park.

Medics responded to the scene from Fire District 1’s Lake Serene Fire Station 23. A Marine 16 boat was dispatched from Edmonds Marina, as firefighters “thought this would be the fastest way to get the patient off the beach and to a hospital,” Hynes sias. Medics transported the man aboard Marine 16 to the Edmonds dock, and from there he was taken by Medic 17 to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.
