Body found in Elk Creek believed to be that of missing Edmonds camper

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office this afternoon said they believe that a body found Thursday morning in Elk Creek is that of Michael Antonelli of Edmonds, who was reported missing earlier this week.

Sherriff’s office spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said that City of Everett watershed patrol officers discovered the body about 100 yards downstream from Antonelli’s campsite.

“We believe it is Mr. Antonelli,” Hover said. “Members of our technical water rescue team are at the location now to retrieve the body and bring it out.”

The 37-year-old Edmonds resident was camping near Boulder Lake last weekend and when he didn’t return, his girlfriend called 911. Authorities who found his campsite said at the time they believed he may have accidentally gone over a 20-foot dropoff and fallen into the creek below.
